The U.K. government initiative, G-Cloud, was launched in an effort to boost B2B business, connecting small suppliers with new clients. According to reports, G-Cloud has just gotten a facelift.

The latest version of the platform, G-Cloud 7, has debuted with added features for suppliers.

“The need for digital services across the public sector are so diverse that we decided the most appropriate place for in-depth evaluation of a supplier is at call-off stage, against the specific buyer problem,” said G-Cloud officials in a statement addressing the new features.

Reports said the upgrades have seemingly aimed to reduce the red tape for suppliers and offer more robust VNS3 services, allowing companies using the portal to securely control their own networks using the cloud’s existing infrastructure.

According to statements from the G-Cloud team, the upgrades eye more meaningful interactions between buyers and suppliers and a more robust experience for the buyers.

“The user experience differs from G-Cloud as this is not a commodity technology framework,” G-Cloud representatives added. “The buyer journey requires more interaction with suppliers than is offered by catalog functionality, in order to find the best solution for bespoke digital needs.”
