Cohesive White Paper: Cloud Security Best Practices with VNS3, Part 1

In the most recent white paper from Cohesive, CEO Patrick Kerpan explores cloud security in public, private and hybrid cloud environments.  Download the PDF of Part 1 here.

Recent studies from IDG found that over 70% of respondents cite security as a barrier to implementing cloud strategies. Worries over accessing information (40%) and  concerns about information governance (37%) also topped the list.  Yet, two-thirds of organizations believe  “cloud computing is a very/somewhat important enabler of business
innovation.”

Cloud adoption is set to grow in the three cloud deployment models: public, private and hybrid.  Regardless of cloud deployment model, the need for business application-layer security remains universal, and largely unanswered by IaaS and Cloud Service vendors.

With real world use case examples, the Cloud Security white paper delves into cloud provider, user, and application security concerns and requirements. Cloud users can add further cloud-based security, such as encrypted IPsec tunnels and secure site-to-site connections using cloud networking. VNS3 is the original cloud networking device. The hybrid virtual devices  act as routers, switches, SSL/IPSec VPN concentrators, firewalls, and protocol re-distributors, all based in software. VNS3 is configurable in a mesh to create an overlay network that gives users control of addressing, topology, protocols and encrypted communications for devices deployed to virtual infrastructure or  cloud computing environments.
